Why Parents Should Turn Down Any Offer of Rhodes Wood Hospital for their Anorexic Child

There is a national shortage of places for children with mental health problems.

If your child has an eating disorders s/he has likely been waiting for a place for a long time and you are desperate for them to get the care and attention they deserve.

So if the NHS Commissioners call you to say they've found your child a place, it can be a great relief. However, you need to STOP and ask questions.

Not all mental health hospitals are the same. With some hospitals, your child will actually get worse. Much worse.

Rhodes Wood Hospital in Brookmans Park, Hatfield is one of them.

Our parents group has numerous parents who will certify to that. Some have had their child in Rhodes Wood for over a year. During that time, their child was physically and emotionally abused. Children who had never self harmed before started head banging, cutting themselves and worse, in desperation at their plight in this hospital.

Several who were not suicidal before, have become extremely suicidal in this hospital and are looking for any cord or rope or other tool they can use to end their lives.

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY NO TO A PLACEMENT AT RHODES WOOD HOSPITAL.

We would urge you to say a very emphatic no.

Or visit our website to learn more about this awful place, why CQC haven't closed it down yet, and why you should scream and run in the opposite direction rather than accept a place being offered to you at Rhodes Wood.
